2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, operate, and improve the SynqWe service
- To sync your schedule, household data, and partner insights across devices in real time
- To power AI-assisted features — see Section 4
- To send push notifications and email reminders you have configured
- To process and manage your in-app subscription via RevenueCat
- To detect and fix bugs and crashes via Sentry
- We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third parties, or any purpose beyond operating the service
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway (railway.app) with encryption at rest and in transit. All API communication uses HTTPS/TLS. We use industry-standard JWT authentication for all API requests.
4. AI Processing (OpenAI)
SynqWe uses OpenAI's API to power many features across the app. Data is only sent to OpenAI when you actively use one of these features — nothing is sent in the background.
Features that use AI and what they send:
- Aria AI Assistant — your messages, conversation history, today's events, mood and energy, nutrition data, household context (partner name, children's names), health profile, and subscription tier.
- Image Scanning (receipts, food plates, documents, calendar photos, contact cards) — the photo you capture or select, plus your health profile (allergies, dietary restrictions) for food scans.
- Voice Features (brain dump, symptom voice triage, Aria voice input) — your audio recording, which is transcribed by OpenAI Whisper before analysis.
- Weekly Report & AI Insights — a 7–30 day anonymised snapshot of your schedule patterns, mood scores, energy levels, nutrition totals, spending totals, meal coverage, friction log counts, and check-in completion rates. Individual log entries are not included.
- Weekly Nutrition Report — your 7-day food log entries, nutrition totals, health profile, and macro goals.
- Disruption Management (draft messages, reschedule suggestions) — the disruption reason, severity, your schedule for the day, and optionally a child's name if they are affected.
- Partner Check-In Questions & Private Reflections — friction log summaries (not full text) and low-mood day counts for generating questions; private reflections include your friction log text.
- Weekly Sync (agenda topics, questions, debrief analysis) — friction summaries, stress indicators, and both partners' sync responses for shared theme extraction.
- Brain Dump (text and voice) — your raw freeform notes or spoken recording.
What is NEVER sent to OpenAI: your password, payment card details, push notification token, or precise location.
OpenAI does not use API data to train their models by default. See their Privacy Policy for details.
Aria and all AI features do not provide medical, financial, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for such decisions.
Conversation history with Aria is retained until you delete it or close your account.
5. Third-Party Services
The following third-party services receive user data as part of how SynqWe operates:
- OpenAI — powers all AI features described in Section 4 (receives context data only when you actively use an AI feature) Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions (receives subscription status) Privacy Policy
- Sentry — error tracking (receives anonymised crash reports) Privacy Policy
We also use infrastructure providers — Railway (hosting), Resend (email), Expo/EAS (builds and push notifications), and Google/Apple (optional sign-in) — to deliver the service.
6. Data Sharing Between Partners
- Shared: events marked as shared, household tasks, meal plans, relational radar score, weekly sync themes, gratitude notes, and partner notifications
- Private (never shared with partner): friction logs, daily mood score details, individual pulse responses, brain dump entries, and data marked "me only"
7. Device Permissions
- Camera — for scanning receipts, food, documents, and contact cards
- Photo library — for selecting images to scan
- Microphone — for speaking to Aria, the AI assistant, using voice input
- Push notifications — for reminders and household alerts
We do not request access to your contacts, precise location, or any other device data beyond the permissions listed above.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at hello@synqwe.com. We will permanently delete your data within 30 days of your request. Backups are purged within 90 days.
9. Children's Privacy
SynqWe is designed for use by adults (parents and caregivers). The app is not directed at children under 13. Information about children entered into the app is entered by the parent user and is stored solely to assist that parent. It is never used for advertising or shared beyond the household.
10. Your Rights
You may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@synqwe.com. We will respond within 30 days.
11. International Data Transfers
SynqWe is operated from Canada. Your data may be processed in the United States (Railway, OpenAI, Sentry, RevenueCat, Expo) and other countries. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
